Sun 19th SEPT '10 Workshop with Melanie Norman from The Arab Quarter at The Place, Euston, London. Melanie says "We will learn a fun and charming choreography to El Touba. The emphasis will be on understanding modern moves, what the influences are currently in Cairo, and giving some insight into how to chart this path with knowledge. The day will start with a dance lecture looking at the anatomy of some modern moves, clips of dancers on YouTube, and information that will help people understand what is needed technically to get some of these moves. This enables me to share the analytical work and subsequent exercises that I have had to implement with my own dance coach in order to be able to put myself on this path. This topic is an extremely interesting one as we witness the complexity of the melting pot of influence that is going on with this fascinating art form." Price is only £40 for a full day workshop, live musician Chalf Hassn, a DVD and writtern notes of the choreography.
